Basic whist rules apply. The dealer and trumps are selected
and thereafter the trump sequence is followed.
The dealer deals 3 hands of cards, singly and in turn, to each
player. Each player shall have two hands containing 11 cards
each and one hand (which is the box) containing 4 cards. For
the impractical 3 handed version; two hands of 7 cards each
and a box of 3 cards.
Each player selects one of his stacks of 11 cards and without
looking at the faces of the cards, spreads them out face down
on the table in front of him, in two rows of 5 and 6 cards.
Using the other stack of 11 cards, each player places a card
FACE UP on top of the previous 11 cards.
The box remains unseen on the table until that player has won
his first trick.
If a player has not won any tricks and the box cards are the
only cards left to play, these cards are played "blind."
The non-dealer selects one of his cards which is face up and
leads with that card.
The dealer selects one of his own cards and plays to the lead
and the winner takes the trick.
The now exposed face down cards are turned face up and the
winner of the previous trick leads to the next trick. As soon
as a player has won a trick, he may pick up and look at his
box and keep it in his hand.
A player must follow suit from the table if he can. If a
player cannot follow suit from the table he may either,
discard, use a trump from the table or play any card of his
choosing from his box, if eligible to look at his box. A
player may not elect to play his box "blind" if he is not
eligible to look at his box.
If a player cannot play from the table he does not need to
follow suit from his box.
The winner is the player who has won most tricks.
