SEVENS

This is a game for three to six players. Two can play but it is not recommended. The dealer is selected in the usual way and the cards are shuffled and cut.

All the cards are dealt, even if it means that some players will have more cards than others.

The player who holds the 7 of Diamonds starts off the game by placing this card face up and in the centre of the table. The next player to his left, has the choice if possible, to play either the 6 of Diamonds to the left of the 7, or the 8 of Diamonds to the right of the 7, or to play any of the remaining Sevens below the 7 of Diamonds.

If a player is unable to, or does not wish to play, they lose their turn. Each player in turn, rotating in a clockwise direction, has the chance of playing a card to the table or if unable to do so, they knock and miss their turn.

The cards played to the table are played in such a manner that the 7 of each suit, starting with diamonds, is the central card and placed alongside to the left and in descending order is the 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & Ace, and placed to the right in ascending order is the 8, 9, 10, J, Q & K.

The suit order does not matter, just so long as the first card played is the 7 of Diamonds.

Only one card at a time can be played and the first person to play all their cards is the winner.
