AMIGA  A1200

(Back  for  the  Future?)

boingtick

This Web Site was created using an AMIGA A1200 with an Apollo '060 accelerator running at 50 Mhz, sporting 32 Mb of Fast RAM. Yes I know, some people would say that it is a real tortoise in the computer world but it will still rattle along at 38.7 Mips and we all know about the story of the tortoise and the hare.

Now I'm not getting into a PC v's Amiga v's Mac v's anything else argument as it is each to their own as they see fit. In any case in 10 or 20 years time they will all be the same so any arguments are fruitless. By then I'll probably be Ga! Ga! and not interested either way. On the other hand I could have gone to join the great memory bank in the Universe and if some people are to be believed, I will know everything about everything.

This is my first attempt at making a Web Site and for an apprentice geriatric who's brain cell finds it difficult to assimilate new fangled things, I reckon that I've done O.K.

Any comments will be welcome but don't shout at me. I'm doing my best. After all we've all got to learn some time.

Some of the graphics I've done myself (the not very good ones), some I've "borrowed" from places now unknown and adapted, others have been "borrowed" from other sites.

I'm not going to say how long it took me. Let us just say that it stopped me getting bored on and off for many a day. (And night)

As I've been assembling this web site, naturally I've been checking to see that what I wanted to achieve, I have actually been able to achieve. The web browser that I favour is AWebII and I have used this to check my work.

Now what I can't do is check with Netscape or Explorer 'cos I ain't got them and in any case I ain't got a PC or a Mac. So if you are one of the unfortunate souls who have stumbled onto this web site with your PC or Mac, before dashing away in horror, please do me a favour. Try and tell me if anything is out of place or looks odd. It shouldn't I know because HTML is HTML on any system, or is it?

Now before any Amiga user using Voyager or IBrowse start hurling lightning bolts at me, I know, I know, the site isn't quite right for you. I can't help that, yet! Maybe it's something that I've done which works O.K. on AWeb but not on Voyager or IBrowse. All I can say is that commercial web sites like BBC, British Legion and some newspaper sites that I have visited look alright when using AWeb and nothing seems out of place. Yet the same sites using Voyager don't look the same.
